About

I'm Ryan Mennie, and I'm a husband and father who is truly proud to call Lethbridge home again. Many of you might remember my voice from your radio, or perhaps you've even heard about the work I've done elsewhere.

My connection to Lethbridge runs deep – I was raised here and completed the Broadcast Production program with Honours at Lethbridge College (now Lethbridge Polytechnic). My career in radio spanned over 30 years across both Alberta and British Columbia. While working in Campbell River, B.C., I met my wife, Ludy, who is a travel agent. We built a happy home there with our three children, now aged 17, 12, and 10. Beyond the microphone, I was heavily involved in the arts, performing on stage, in TV, and film. My wife and I also enjoyed teaching Sunday school together and walking dogs for the BCSPCA.

When Campbell River faced significant economic hardship in 2008, I felt a strong call to action. I ran for city council and served two terms, dedicating myself to guiding the community through those tough times. I'm especially proud of two major accomplishments: working closely with the community to bring about the construction of two new hospitals in Comox and Campbell River, and engaging in years of detailed discussions with the Province to help facilitate the $1.093 billion BC Hydro John Hart Generating Station Replacement project. These projects were vital in helping Campbell River recover and thrive.

In 2014, I returned home to Lethbridge. You may have heard my voice on 94.1 CJOC, where I was the afternoon host for five years, before becoming Program Director and morning host on 98.1 2DayFM. Serving the people of Lethbridge has always been a part of my day-to-day life. For the last 3.5 years, I've continued this by facilitating Learning & Development for businesses and organizations at Lethbridge Polytechnic.

I'm now running for city council to bring the good governance and hard-won experience that will navigate Lethbridge through the economic turbulence caused by this trade war. The foundations of our city’s economy, including our agricultural sectors and manufacturing sectors, are currently under attack. We need creative solutions, fiscal balance, and councillors who will work for you and for the future of your family.

Together, we will make Lethbridge stronger and give our city the future of prosperity our children deserve. I humbly ask for your support to bring new change and new opportunity to our city.

Municipal Campaigns can be tough. Ryan will need as much help as possible to win the election. Each donation will make a difference and will help the city of Lethbridge elect qualified leadership to the city council, and work to strengthening the city's economy and infrastructure. Ryan has helped lay the groundwork for major projects and understands the importance of collaboration to navigate challenges. He is prepared to work with our community and other governments to help Lethbridge's businesses thrive despite tariffs.
